Yashoda and Krishna

In the quiet lanes of Vrindavan, the Infinite chose the warmth of a mother’s embrace.

Yashoda, simple and tender, raised a child who was unlike any other. To the world he would become Krishna, the divine flute-player, the guide of souls, the source of cosmic wisdom. But to her he was only her beloved Gopala, the mischievous boy who filled her home with laughter and wonder.

She fed him butter with her own hands, bathed him in the soft light of dawn, and chased him through courtyards when he stole from the pots hung high above. In her love there was no fear, no distance, no awareness of divinity, only the pure instinct of a mother caring for her child.

Once, when she asked him to open his mouth, she saw the entire universe within, stars turning in endless space, rivers flowing through unseen worlds, the rhythm of creation itself. Yet even after witnessing this vision, her heart chose love over awe. She gathered him close and forgot the vastness she had seen.

Their bond is remembered as the sacred path of maternal devotion, where the Divine allows itself to be held, scolded, protected, and adored.

In the arms of Yashoda, God becomes a child.

In the smile of Krishna, the universe becomes intimate and near.
